This is a simple cookie-based user authentication script. The first time you log in, you need to type in your login name and password, a cookie is set, and you're in. The next time you visit, the system recognizes your cookie, and you're let in (without any typing). If there are mutiple users on one machine, you can simply delete your cookie, so nobody else can enter.
